I've been employed in many capacities over the years. My first job was to feed baby chicks at the local five and dime -- a privilege for which I paid the owner of the store five cents a day. I worked as often as I could afford it but never seemed to make any money. It was my first accounting lesson on the old adage "you can't turn a loser into a winner on volume."
Since then, my occupational endeavors have increased in their responsibilities and rewards. It's been fascinating to see how jobs that I thought would just be stops along the way to something better have turned into valuable experiences for my current labors.
